The Eau Claire Crush ended their 2013 NEFL season with a 35-12 loss to the Menominee Thunderhawks at Carson Park Saturday night.
It was a tough end for the Crush who got a strong effort from their defense which forced 6 turnovers. Safety Kenny Ingle had 2 interceptions, while cornerback John Heck recovered a fumble while also recording two picks. Cornerback Billy Hawn provided some late game fireworks with a diving interception that halted a Thunderhawks drive.
Offensively, the Crush (1-7) continued to struggle as they were only able to muster 225 total yards. However, quarterback Chris Marshall connected with his receivers on two long touchdown passes. In the first quarter Marshall threw a pass that was tipped by Thunderhawks’ defensive backs, but somehow ended up in the hands of Xavier Thompson who ran it in for a 69 yard touchdown. In the second half, Marshall connected with Corey Randall for a long touchdown pass as well.
It has been a difficult season for the Eau Claire Crush who went through a coaching change and many injuries, but a bright future lies ahead with many players planning on returning and a coaching staff committed to improving.
